Kitsap Drainage and Waterproofing Project at Spice Lane in Bremerton

A clogged downspout drain can cause a lot of trouble for a household, let alone an entire neighborhood. Even the smallest clogged drain can make a mess… As you could imagine, the clogged downspout in the Spice Lane neighborhood caused a huge sinkhole on the side of the road. The Kitsap Drainage and Waterproofing team was called in to assess the damage and provide a solution.

Our Work at Spice Lane in Bremerton

After inspecting the situation and assessing the damage, our team concluded that what needed to be done was to excavate and replace the clogged corrugated pipes with new solid pipes. To do so, we used a vacuum truck to excavate where the new catch basin was going to go and along the utilities as well. Then we cut a trench across the street with a concrete saw.

Then, after getting the catch basin installed, our guys dug a trench with the excavator from the catch basin, across the road and down to the sewer drain down the road where we could tie the pipes together. Once all of that was done, we repoured the asphalt and backfilled the trench, as you can see in the photos below.

As a result, the water flowed into the catch basin, then from the catch basin into the sewer drain, just like it should. The corrugated pipe that was in the ground in the first place clogged easily and was crushed in a couple places. We replaced it with solid PVC which should flow much better and resist clogging. The company that put in the existing drainage did it as cheaply as possible. It should have been done the way we did the first time.
